JOAN ANTON LLARCH

Born in Barcelona, 1959.
I studied 2 years of industrial engineering at University.

In 1977, after spending some years in the folkloric group “Esbart Sant Marti” as a dancer and amateur technician, I began my professional career working for the folklore group “Esbart Dansaire” from Rubí near Barcelona.
As complementary jobs during these years I did photography and electro-technical settings.

In 1982 I joined the lighting hire company “Aurora Lighting”, where I had the opportunity to learn and to practise the multiple disciplines of lighting, especially the musical side.

Freelance from 1986, I’ve since worked with all types of productions
as a lighting designer, technical director and project manager.

From 1991 I’ve specialized in 3D computer design, and its applications to developing and designing larger scale events.
I’ve since collaborated with many different producers, set designers and construction companies.

In 2005 and 2006 I taught technical production at Istituto Europeo di Design - IED - of Barcelona.

In 2007 I founded Kontrolcla, a show control company.


OUTSTANDING PAST PROJECTS AND EVENTS:

1993

Set and lighting design for the Festival “Together Against Aids” in the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.

1995
Design and director of technical construction for installation of the Layher structure at the Indoor Skiing track at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.

2001
Stage, lighting and technical direction of the inaugural ceremony of the “VI Olympic Celebration of European Youth”, in Murcia.

2003
Set design and design of the Olympic torch for the “Policemen and Firemen World Games” in Barcelona.

2006
Lighting and video design, and with Jordi Muñoz collaboration, the set disseny of the temporal exhibition Pirates at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona.

With lighting designer Joan Teixidor for the lighting of the Un Pont de Mar Blava, for Lluis Llach, in the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.

1995
With Ramon Ivars work together for the project of the set design for the ballet Don Quixote, choreographed by Patrice Bart, for the Finnish National Ballet at the Finnish National Opera of Helsinki.

1997
With Ramon Ivars for the set design for the TVE program Quién sabe Dónde?

1998
With Ramon Ivars for the set design for the ballet Giselle choreographed by Silvie Guillem, for the Finnish National Ballet at the Finnish National Opera of Helsinki.

With Joan Berrondo for the design of the stage for the opening ceremony of University Olympic Games
in Palma de Mallorca. alma de Mallorca.

With Ramon Ivars for the set design for the ballet Don Quixote, choreographed by Maximiliano Guerra, for the Stuttgart Ballet at the State Theater of Stuttgart.

With Xavier Amat in the design of the travelling exhibition "The Glaciers", for Science Museum of Barcelona.

2001
With Xavier Amat for the preliminary plans of a permanent exhibition of the Flooded forest at the Science Museum in Barcelona, CosmoCaixa.

2002
With Isidre Prunes for the set design for the play “Spot”, for the Valencian company Albena Theatre.

2004
With Isidre Prunes for the set design for the play "Maria Rosa", from Angel Guimerà at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya.

2005

orking with Frederic Amat on the structural development of the set design for the play “Roberto Zucco”, directed by Lluís Pascual for the Centro Dramático Nacional in the theatre Maria Guerrero, Madrid.

With Pere Francesch and Xavier Amat for the complete design of the Terror Hotel - Baku Adventure Park, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands.
